Day Trips from Zagreb and Velika Gorica
Private day trips with driver to Plitvice Lakes, Istria, Slavonia, Bled and Venice — destinations within 3-4 hours drive
Horizonti Travel organises private day trips from Zagreb and Velika Gorica for individual travellers, couples and smaller groups. We offer destinations within 3 to 4 hours drive from Zagreb — Plitvice Lakes, Istria (Rovinj, Pula), Slavonia (Osijek, Đakovo), Slovenia (Bled, Ljubljana) and Venice. Unlike group tourist tours, a private day trip means you have the vehicle and driver to yourself — you depart when you want, stop where you want and return according to your schedule. The driver knows the destinations and can recommend places for lunch, photography and sightseeing.

Plitvice Lakes — the most popular day trip
Plitvice Lakes is the most visited natural attraction in Croatia and one of the most beautiful places in Europe. Plitvice Lakes National Park was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979. From Zagreb to Plitvice Lakes is about a 2-hour drive, and slightly less from Velika Gorica. Horizonti Travel organises private transport to Plitvice Lakes departing from Zagreb or Velika Gorica. The driver takes you to the national park entrance, waits while you explore the lakes and trails (usually 3 to 5 hours), and then returns you home. National park entrance tickets are purchased on site and are not included in the transport price.

Istria — Rovinj and Pula
Istria is a peninsula in northwest Croatia known for its picturesque coastal towns, Istrian truffles and rich cultural heritage. Rovinj is one of the most photogenic cities on the Adriatic — colourful houses by the sea, narrow cobblestone streets and the church tower of St. Euphemia dominating the town. From Zagreb to Rovinj is about 2.5 to 3 hours. Pula is the second major city of Istria, known for its Roman amphitheatre which is one of the best preserved in the world. For a day trip to Istria we recommend a combination of Rovinj and Pula or just one city with more time to explore. Istria is accessible as a day trip as it is within 3 hours drive from Zagreb.

Slovenia — Bled and Ljubljana
Slovenia is an excellent destination for a day trip from Zagreb — it is close, no visa is required for EU citizens and it offers spectacular natural and urban attractions. Lake Bled is one of the most photogenic places in Europe — the emerald green lake with an island and a castle on a rock attracts visitors from around the world. From Zagreb to Bled is about 2 hours. Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital, is only 1.5 hours from Zagreb and offers a charming old town, castle and vibrant café culture. For a day trip you can combine Bled and Ljubljana or focus on just one destination.
Slavonia — Osijek, Đakovo and Vukovar
Slavonia is a region in eastern Croatia that is often overlooked in tourist itineraries, yet it offers rich cultural heritage, excellent gastronomy and hospitable people. Osijek is the largest city of Slavonia, known for the 18th-century Tvrđa fortress, the promenade along the Drava river and a vibrant café scene. From Zagreb to Osijek is about 2.5 hours. Đakovo is a smaller town known for the cathedral of Bishop Strossmayer, one of the most beautiful in Croatia, and the Lipizzaner horse stud farm Ergela Đakovo. Vukovar, a city on the Danube, holds an important role in recent Croatian history and is worth visiting for the memorial centre and the Vučedol Culture Museum.

Venice — day trip from Zagreb
Venice is about 3 hours drive from Zagreb and is a perfect destination for a day trip. Horizonti Travel organises private transport to Venice departing from Zagreb or Velika Gorica. The driver takes you to the mainland car park (Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto), from where you reach the centre of Venice by vaporetto or on foot. For a day trip to Venice we recommend an early departure (6:00 or 7:00) to have enough time for sightseeing. EU citizens do not need a visa for Italy. Besides Venice, Trieste (2 hours) and Padua (2.5 hours) are also accessible from Zagreb as day trips.
Departure from Zagreb and Velika Gorica
Horizonti Travel organises day trips departing from Zagreb and Velika Gorica. Velika Gorica is a town immediately adjacent to Zagreb International Airport and many travellers arriving by plane can head directly on a trip without entering Zagreb. For travellers staying in Velika Gorica, we organise pickup at an agreed location in town. All trips can be adapted to the departure point — specify your address when booking and we will organise transport from your place of stay, whether that is a hotel in central Zagreb, an apartment in Velika Gorica or another location in the area.
